A proud, volunteer-driven community charity bringing the spirit of manaakitanga to communities across Victoria.
Victoria Māori Wardens Incorporated was established in 2012 and is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ABN 44 110 301 524). We are based in Truganina, in Melbourne's west, and serve communities right across Victoria.
Māori Wardens carry a long and respected history of voluntary community service. For Māori and Pasifika whānau who have made Australia home, we provide a familiar, caring presence — a link to culture, identity and belonging in a new land.
Today our volunteer wardens give their time to support events, care for people, share culture and offer comfort in difficult moments — extending the hand of friendship to the whole community.
To serve and uplift our community through compassionate service, cultural awareness and community development — caring for whānau and neighbours of all backgrounds with humility, respect and aroha.
Strong, connected communities in which culture is valued, no one stands alone, and every person — whatever their journey — is treated with dignity, manaakitanga and care.
Care, hospitality and respect for the mana and dignity of every person we serve.
Building relationships and a sense of belonging — because we are stronger together.
Acting with genuine love, compassion and kindness, especially in times of need.
“He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.”
Victoria Māori Wardens is an incorporated association and a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). We are a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation — every contribution supports our community work.
